“Sârukhâni” is structurally based on research into the ancient, authentic, and vocal-instrumental (Kalami-Sazi) Maqam of the Tanbour repertoire within the traditional music of the Kermanshah region. By reimagining the characteristics of traditional texts and tunes within a contemporary structure, the work explores the continuity of cultural identity in Iran’s regional repertoire through the aesthetics of new music.
