NANNING, China – Iranian composer Mehdi Hosseini was featured in the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble’s concert during the 14th China-ASEAN (Nanning) Music Week on October 24, 2025. The performance at Guangxi Arts University Concert Hall presented Hosseini’s work alongside contemporary compositions from Russia, Azerbaijan, and China in a program celebrating global musical dialogue.
The concert showcased Hosseini’s distinctive compositional voice among works by composers including Turkal Ghasimzadeh, Edison Denisov, Alfred Schnittke, Bai Chao, and Liu Peng. The Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, known since its 1990 founding for championing modern repertoire, collaborated with five internationally acclaimed soloists: flutist Maria Kolyagina, clarinetist Oleg Tanzov, violinist Yevgeny Subotin, cellist Olga Demina, and pianist Mikhail Dubov.
Now in its fourteenth edition, the China-ASEAN Music Week continues to serve as a vital platform for cultural exchange, this year expanding its reach to include prominent voices from the Middle East and Europe alongside Chinese and ASEAN composers.
